These are the steps I used to solve my issue (just in case someone else falls pray to this error): • Uninstall all instances of Java (x32 and x64 bit) • Restart PC • Download and install an older version of Java * from their Archives [].

I used Java 7u40 x64 bit (as I am running a x64 bit version of Windows 8.1 Pro) * Note in order to download from the archives you have to make an account with Java (its Free). • Restart PC • Manually download and install the newest version of Java from here []. I, again, manually downloaded and installed the x64 bit version of Java 7u51. • Restart PC • Now go to Java.com, again, this time download their automatic installer found here []. This will install the x32 bit version of Java 7u51. • Restart PC • If you did all the steps correctly you should now only have two version of Java installed on your system: 'Java 7u51 and Java 7u51 (64-bit)'.
